Grace VILLIERS who was born about 1890 in St Marylebone, London the daughter
of Edwin
Adam VILLIERS and Emma Marion WRIGHT. Edwins marriage certificate gives
his profession as "Gentleman" and his address as "The Savoy"
the marriage took place at the "Chapel Royal in the precinct of The Savoy"
on July 24th 1889
Emma Marion WRIGHT's roots go back to the Swaffham area of Norfolk but her father
William moved to the London area in his early years and met his wife Emily Charlotte
JECKS there and they married July 29th 1859 at the Bloomsbury Chapel, Bloomsbury
Street, Middlesex.
In 1860 Phyllis was born followed by Emma in 1863, Edgar in 1866 and Charles
in 1868. Phyllis and Emma were born in London and Edgar and Charles in Swaffam,
Norfolk
Both Phyllis and Emma went onto the stage under the names of Emma BROUGHTON and Phyllis BROUGHTON.
Their uncle Charles Albert JECKS married Harriet COVENEY who was also an actress as was their daughter Clara JECKS. Charles who in his early years was a Police Inspector later became the Business Manager of the Adelphi Theatre, London.
William WRIGHT according to the various census returns was born about 1827/28 in Gateley, Norfolk. The 1841 census for Little Fransham about 5 miles east of Swaffam shows a William WRIGHT at home with his widowed mother Phyllis (the name of his first daughter) and elder brother George.
The parish registers for North Elmham (Ordnance Survey map ref TF 98 x 20) about 2 miles south east of Gateley (os ref TF 96 x 24) shows the marriage of William WRIGHT to Phyllis EASTOE on December 3rd 1822
